Yes, TFG is risible, a grifter, a wannabe fascist dictator, all bad things, and I myself have underestimated the risk in the past. But he won’t get anything like as much RWM support going forward because they are moving into DeSantis-fluffing mode.

What we need to do on our side is have ready-to-go DeSantis defluffs when we encounter them! Start developing and testing them! I don’t see DeathSantis getting a lot of traction, unfortunately. And I’ll take a wild guess we won’t get as much negative branding help from the Lincoln project this time around.

A small diversion to a much-asked question — why are we so bad at this on the left? I suppose it’s a side-effect of wanting positive outcomes, real government that actually helps people, and recognizing that all people are actually people. I’d call it pro-Life but they already stole that one, of course.

The campaign against Hillary was a campaign of a thousand small cuts. So that people didn’t know exactly why they didn’t like her, they just knew they didn’t. We have two years to do that to Death Boy People-are-Pawns-in-my-Game (see, I can’t do it either!). Or, possibly, they’ll pivot to a new annointee, two years is a long time in politics, and we’ll have to pivot too. But TFG is sucking up too much energy still — it’s what he does, and we all fall for it. It allows the next person time and space to develop and we actually don’t want that.

New Annointee, I accept, could even be TFG again, but since the boys in power really don’t want that, I think it’s unlikely. Keep an eye on the next guy and bring your best negative game to the table. Please, for all of us!
