Mama, where did you hide the box o bags? Inquiring kittehs want to know.
A few years ago, Bill scored two large boxes of 1000 Smart and Final Christmas grocery bags each that had been misprinted and S&F had ordered them discarded. In the warehouse industry, that frequently means the items can be given to employees or tossed in the dumpster to declare them actual trash and then retrieved. I have a shop table from the phone company that was declared unfit for use because it had a hole in the top so my super and I took it to the dumpster, smoked a cigarette, declared it salvageable and put it in my car. Bill filled the hole and I have used it for decades.
These bags appeared just as grocery stores were being encouraged to stop handing out plastic bags. A lot of us use them for trash bags so these are a gawdsend. There were 1000 in each box that would have gone to the landfill empty. I shared them with Lil Zen so we don’t take grocery bags when we shop, but use our reusable ones.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. Well, we got down to the last few in the first box last month. Bill asked about the 2nd box and I told him I had put it somewhere when I decorated last year for Christmas, so I will look for it. And look I did, high and low, over hill and dale (Dale didn’t have it) and no luck. I knew it was here somewhere.
Yesterday, I got into the closet looking for something and noticed Christmas wrapped boxes. As I pulled one out, it was noted as “S&F Bags”! The other said “Fridge water filters”! Eureka, I found them. I had wrapped them last year and used them to stage decos in the bookcase. At the end of the season, I just filed them away with the decos and forgot that they were things I would need.
I am so relieved to have found them before I actually needed them. My mind is not as bad as I thought. It is a Christmas miracle! Have a good day.
