InfraGard is a program run by the FBI to facilitate sharing of cyber and physical threat information with the private sector. This week its database of contact information with more than 80,000 members was seen to be posted up for sale on an English-language cybercrime forum.

The hackers responsible are communicating directly with members through the InfraGard portal online -- using a new account under the assumed identity of a financial industry CEO that was vetted by the FBI itself.

This is sufficiently alarming that I decided such a short article was still warranted. Taken in light of the domestic terror events, this needs to be investigated and a plan put into place to isolate any other affected systems and implement additional security mechanisms and protocols ASAP.
