Water
It has been a while since I posted any diaries, here at DK Preppers.
I was interacting in the comments of a diary on the trending list, and it made me think about flashlights, and other prepping items.
First, I want to post a link to a checklist, and copy and paste part of the checklist, since I feel that such lists, are the key, to prepping:
www.redcross.org/…
So, let’s start at the top of the list:
Water:
For at least ten years, I have been drinking only bottled water. I mean, if I don’t have any with me, and I am near a drinking fountain, I am not afraid of the city water, here in Wichita, Kansas. But, the bottled water tastes a little better, and I keep a lot of bottles in the fridge, for a cool drink, no need for ice. So, that is my normal way of life. Even though that means I am spending a fair amount of money, and time and effort, to keep myself well supplied, the advantage is, that rather than maybe, if I think of it, getting some water on hand for emergencies, all I need to do, is buy two more cases of bottled water, any time my stack gets down to only 8 cases. You can adjust your normal stack, bigger or smaller, and you can adjust how many still in the stack, triggers you to buy more. I am alone, so I am prepping for one. But, my sister-in-law, often asks me for two cases, so that means I need to keep my stack up.
To review:
10 cases of water, each case is 32 bottles, each bottle is one half liter.
That is 160 liters.
The red cross list uses gallons, but using four liters, as a similar measure, that is well over 40 gallons.
One gallon per person per day, means I have a 40 day supply.
When I am down to 8 cases, that is a 32 day supply.
My wife died, in March of this year.
So, everything I do, is a part of my grief journey.
Feeling safe and secure, is part of my grief journey.
And, maybe we should all think, that our emotional needs, are also important, in prepping.
To use a metaphor, we all need a teddy bear, or a security blanket, in our prepper stash.
Or, our prepper stash, is like a security blanket, helping our emotional health.
So, all of you are welcome, to comment, and say where you and your household is at, in your prepping journey.
How are you set for water, food, flashlights, and all the things on the red cross list?
And, feel free to go to the link, because that list I copied and pasted, is just the basic, minimal list. There is a lot more at the link.
I plan to keep posting these prepping diaries, each Tuesday, until further notice.
I think I will post a poll, to see which topic I will cover next week
Hugs.
