He's No FDR — The Week in Editorial Cartoons, David Bowie Edition, Part 2 [1]

The Summary

Part 2 has editorial cartoonists portraying Trump as a renegade with no understanding of — let alone have respect for — the United States Constitution. You know, the same set of rules that he promised to obey at his 2016 inauguration. In fact, his oath of office included words in which he swore that he “will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Operating in the sleazy world of real estate in the Greater NYC area for decades before he entered the political arena, Trump brought the same low-brow behavior and sensibilities to Washington, DC. Ditto for his corrupt children and son-in-law. That the Trump Organization was found guilty of fraud didn’t surprise any of the editorial cartoonists.

But, with so many legal troubles bedeviling him from many different angles, this could well be the beginning of the end for him. One can only outrun the law for so long and avoid justice. Sooner or later, it’ll catch up with you. We might reach that point in the coming months.

Society also judges all of us by the company we keep. In Trump’s case, his friends and political allies are also depicted in the same negative light by cartoonists as they see him. As a group, these folks are not much into ethics and morality!
