Thermal Thursday: Good News: Take Back from Caesar What You Rendered Unto Caesar? [1]

Today’s topic: If you are a caregiver, and likely sometimes even when you’re not, you are probably all too familiar with that sense of overwhelm. Big to-do lists, and even though writing things down, in the back of your mind at all times, “Am I forgetting something?”

So Mom received an ominous-looking letter from the county that felt like it had a return envelope inside. And I thought “Uh oh, did we forget some tax or other??”

So deep breath and I opened it (Mom has made me her legal proxy).

Pleasant shock!! It’s a refund check!

From the enclosed letter:

From the Covid-19 pandemic, to rising costs at the grocery store, we know how difficult it has been for many of your — especially our valued seniors…. That’s why we have passed a one-time Senior Stimulus Program. The program calls for a $200 stimulus payment, which you will find enclosed… It is our hope that this will provide you with some breathing room to help cover your expenses.

Wow! I have been reading in my news feed that various governments were sending these out, but thought it was some kind of scammy thing. This came from the local property tax office.

So if you find an official-looking letter in your mailbox this month, do not panic! It just MAY be good news!
