Of all the offal to run across on the anniversary of the assassination of John Lennon, QAnon’s claim (reported in Rolling Stone) that the band he founded bowed to Satan and ate children must rank among the most nauseatingly vile and evil one could ever imagine.

On one hand, as Advent approaches, let’s appreciate and enjoy “Happy Xmas/War Is Over [if you want it].” On the other hand, let’s admit that, with the likes of Q lurking, to pursue peace looks mighty damn tough.

Let’s face it. Q paints Donald Trump as a messiah who strives to regain power mainly so he can save the world from child-gobbling Dems. (How kind of him!) And now, it seems, from the supposed legacy of some extraordinary rockers.

In February, 1964, The Fab Four touched down in New York. At their sometimes riotous first American press conference, a reporter asked if they weren’t mere British knockoffs of America’s King of Rock ‘n Roll. Flaunting some unmistakably Elvis-like gyrations, Ringo Starr exclaimed “NO! IT’S NOT TRUE!”

Hilarious. But wait. Weren’t they really, in truth, some not-so-fine young cannibals?

Whew. How best to (briefly) counter Q’s malign absurdity? Well, to that end, let’s connect some dots. In revering Trump, Q-heads have joined some Christian fundamentalists (not to forget how, in a sick, twisted way, the loner/misfit/Holden Caulfield aficionado who laid Lennon low was also reportedly devout, not to deny faith can often work positively).

Of The Beatles, Lennon once said, “We gave everything we had for ten years.” (And no small measure as solo artists.) By countless orders of magnitude, that’s more than any Qster could hope to credibly claim. Going forward, let’s keep in mind how Lennon made a mini masterpiece of something so seemingly trite as “All You Need Is Love.” And how Q trumpets nothing but hate.
