Not an Artist Trading card but a zen inspired drawing
The year I retired, my Aunt Pat sent me the information and some supplies to begin making Artist Trading Cards. I would do that for some years and have a wonderful time in the making. I traded hundreds of baseball card sized collages with other artists all over the world. I have 3 ring binders, (not full of women) full of art from so many people.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

This was the art piece Aunt Pat made for me and sent with a box of paper and glue.
Hand drawn art by Pat Riley, my aunt.
Each of the little characters is individually cut and pasted down. They are all hand colored. Some of the dots are dimensional. It is a wonderful piece and has been on the door of my art armoire since 2009. I see it all the time and don’t see it often enough. So here it is for you to see.
For some people, this is fridge door art, or boho art, or folk art, but to me this was “You are an artist and it is not a waste of time!” art. It was an affirmation that I should freely spend the time, energy and some small funds doing what I love. I had just retired from a 40 year job and the idea of free time to do art was not firm in my mind yet, I still thought of a 40 hour work week and a job to do. This art brought me to a new light. Thank you, Aunt Pat.
