It just never stops. OK, you got streaming internet at your house? Do you receive the ACP internet stimulus from the feds? (It's about $30 off of your monthly bill, every month: it is paid to your ISP, who shows it as a credit to your bill.) So, they knock of $30 each bill, but then, 2 months into the program, a large national ISP jacked their base price 10 % overnight. The base price is unaffected by the credit, meaning, it's on you. That means, they got their snout into the taxpayer's money trough, and then double-dipping by charging you the increase after they got that entrée into the taxpayer's pocket, which you can bet they'll do repeatedly. After all, they are a "for profit" company, no? Now, looking into opensecrets.org, we find that that company lobbied for that bill (part of the Infrastructure Act), has spent more than 95 million dollars lobbying since '98 (buying the bills they want), and another >10 million dollars on "campaign contributions" since '90. Now, imagine you go to your senator or congress critter, demanding that "something be done!", and then imagine that those same pols rely on that "lobbying" and "campaign contributions." See the problem? We're gettin' hosed from both ends--SOP. The only recourse is independent media (the net), as the MSM has few to no truly investigative reporters any longer. We're on our own folks. Read your internet bill. And remember: when money becomes speech, it becomes the only speech.
