The Road Ahead?

Once again, it looks like we’re heading toward another surge in this nearly 3-year long pandemic. A significant majority of states are showing higher week-over-week cases numbers now, and hospitalizations have just registered their largest percentage jump since the start of Omicron last December. Though the weekly death toll still appears to be headed lower at the moment, this is actually an artifact of Florida data not making it to worldometers for some reason the past couple of weeks. And while I doubt we will see anything quite as extreme as what we saw with Omicron last year, this Holiday travel season will almost certainly guarantee things will continue to get worse, at least for the next month or two. Anyone who hasn’t gotten the new bivalent booster by now, along with their annual flu shot, is really asking for trouble at this point — particularly if they have become more cavalier about masking up indoors in the presence of others.
