Hate crime comes too close to home. [1]

I went to Temple Beth El as a child

It is a Reform Jewish place of worship in the northern suburbs of Detroit. It is located in Bloomfield Hills which is one of the nicest burbs around here home to people of higher than normal SES. People might remember the name of the city as it is home to the last place Jimmy Hoffa was seen alive.

I can recall one other hate crime ever occurring at the Temple and this was in the early 80s when Simon Wiesenthal spoke to a packed house. There was a lone neo nazi nut outside yelling and protesting. No one was able to leave until he was carted off.
