Prior to 2020, the first or second Saturday of the December was reserved for the job site Christmas Party.
In 2020, just as COVID-19 vaccines had become available, we did not have a Christmas party, of course. Instead the job hired a food truck from a local restaurant to cater a to-go meal. In 2021, we did have a Christmas party of sorts in one of the rooms at the job site but I don’t think that it was very well attended.
For 2022, the job once again decided to hire the food truck for dinners to go. We had an appointed time to walk or drive up to receive our meal. A couple of snafus happened and many of us waited for 30-45 minutes for our catered meal.
The wait got on my nerves. It was also quite windy outside but, unlike 2020, it was in the low 50s; unseasonably warm but not that unusual day in Chicago. After all, two years ago we were freezing our butts off waiting for our Christmas meal and it took only ten minutes.
Frankly, I was more aggravated by the wait than anything else because my favorite seasons are the fall and the winter. Some people say that’s part of my weirdness for the simple fact that I was born in the middle of the summer (my birthday is in July). And for some reason, people are supposed to prefer the season that they we born into.
I checked the GoogleBoomTube to see whether the belief that one’s seasonal preference depends on the date of one’s birth had some data to back it up The only thing that I could find that was even related to my question was this old 2009 online forum where the answers are all over the place. There are quite a few interesting articles about the correlation between the the month/season of birth and personality types, for example.
While there is little research looking specifically at the psychology of seasonal preferences, researchers have found that seasonal changes in temperature and light can have an impact on moods and behaviors. Those born in the spring and summer months, for example, are thought to be more likely to have excessively positive temperaments and were more likely to experience rapid shifts in mood. Those born during the winter months, on the other hand, may be less likely to have irritable temperaments. 1 , which is a type of depression. While it might seem odd, psychologists have long recognized the powerful influence that seasons and can have on mood. The shorter months of winter are known for sometimes causing people to experience seasonal affective disorder , which is a type of depression.
Whereas I am far more likely to be irritated and even mildly depressed in the summer months as opposed to the fall and winter months.
Who knows why I’m that way? I have some ideas, sure.
But I’ve been that way for at least 50 years now and I’ll probably be that way until I die.
I’ve learn to just roll with it.
Comments below he fold.
