Right now some of the far right Republicans are balking at voting for Kevin McCarthy for House Speaker. To me , it seems the answer to his problem is simple. Ask yourself, “who is the one person that all the RW crazies will listen to?” Answer is “Donald Trump”.
From everything I’ve heard on this site and elsewhere, Trump and McCarthy are on still on very good terms. Unless McCarthy is even stupider than I think, he will enlist TFG’s aid, even if he has to make some promises to get his full support. If he can get Trump to issue a strong statement that he wants McCarthy to be the next speaker, watch the opposition from Gaetz, Biggs, and others vanish like a puff of smoke.
It makes sense from Trump’s perspective, too. If he pulls out all the stops for McCarthy, McCarthy really owes him and he has a very grateful puppet as House Speaker who will be loyal and do what he is told.
I am really interested to hear what others in the community think. The only thing that could possibly put the kibosh on this is if Trump actually gets indicted before the House convenes in January and I don’t see that happening.
