We — all of us — are witness to the end of the human experiment.
The evidence is overwhelming.
ALL greenhouse emissions are up — methane is rising quickly.
Ice caps — Greenland —
Record High summer temps — both hemispheres
Drought, flooding, species extinction … etc …
It is so obvious we pretend with all our creative mind and intellectual prowess, that things can be turned around.
That ain’t happening.
So what do the great liberal minds at Kos do when confronted by this
HIDE BEHIND “DOOMERISM”
You see — if someone tells you it’s over — then they are a de-facto Doomer.
Because someone acknowledges these facts it must be true that these individuals are complacent, they don’t care, because of the implied apathy they are in fact — the problem. they are a road block to solving the problems.
Total Bullshit
1) There is no such thing as a “Doomer” it is a made up moniker to solve an intellectual trap.
the person decrying doomerism — is not doing anything with their own hands to make this climate problem better. They are looking to political and social mechanisms to solve the problems — they will tell you an individual cannot stop this — we need collective action. So you are a nay sayer and your attitude will stop people from acting.
There is ZERO proof for this psychological claim — zero.
In fact — people turn into compassionate humans in large numbers when a crisis is recognized.
All this full of hope bullshit is a form of procrastination and intellectual avoidance.
there are abundant empirical facts in the news, on kos, and in research that show us how biggly we are failing to meet the challenge.
2. Creating the the “doomer” makes You look good and a false authority. falling back on name calling “doomerism” is pure sophistry.
Put your finger back in your pocket and go do something
3. When you actually meet someone who qualifies as a “doomer” ask them what they do.
As someone who is always called doomer — i can tell you that my hands are full of compost and calluses from using a shovel, and participation in soil regeneration.
It is more often than not that my accuser reply’s that the crisis cannot be averted by individual action, the solution must be political. sounds great — what have done — who is gonna represent you …….
additionally — it is beyond ignorance to assume that someone who pointed out how severe this crisis is — isn’t also politically active
4. but this species of “doomer” is real. it is called Apathetic youth.
And they are the reason all the bad is coming. Which — by the way — if all the end of humanity is on the way because of “doomers” isn’t the argument against them like falling off a cliff and pretending a pillow under your butt will save you?
