Possible Targets of a R supermajority?

This is my very first diary here. I have read and commented on a lot of diaries over the almost two decades I've been pointing my browser at DK. If I have stepped on toes or otherwise messed up my maiden voyage, please let me know.

A nightmare thought just occurred to me: Suppose Danger Yam or That Othet Florida Man and their fascist buddies Win It All in two years. Also suppose that they end Democracy as we know it, but desire to keep the trappings of democracy as window dressing?

I thought of two things they might pull to maintain their grip on Powah:

One: Repeal the 23nd Amendment, the rwo term limit for the Presidency.

Two: Repeal the 26th Amendment, voting age set to 18.

Sounds a bit strange, right? Well, knowing what TFG has said about the subject of being limited to two terms, I bet that a sufficiently large Electoral victory to suggest a mandate, that the Rs might just try this one. Getting ¾ if the states to ratify either proposal would mean a midterm Red Tsunami in '26 sufficient to dye the map redder than blood.

The second Repeal attacks the demographic most opposed to the fascists: young people. If this passed, it would slice enough voters out of the electorate to help Rs Win More.

The other way they might pull this crap off is an Article 5 Constitutional Convention, aka "Get Me Rewrite!" They are at 19 right now, they need 34 to petition Congress to call for one.

Long shots, but so long as we work our asses off to keep state legislatures and the Federal level a nice shade of Blue … this nightmare will not happen.
