Welcome to what is the 1157th original profile here at “Fanatical Republican Extremist of the Day”, where we’re profiling Georgia State Senator Bruce Thompson, who has served District 14 of that body since winning office in a 2013 special election to replace the seat vacated by current Georgia Congressman Barry Loudermilk. Where Thompson first came to our attention in a big way was back in April of 2020, where only days after he nearly died of respiratory failure, he announced on social media he had tested positive for Covid-19. He posted about people staying home to “flatten the curve”, which was responsible… but what definitely wasn’t so helpful was when he ignored a local sheriff who asked him to actually do it and stay in Georgia and self-quarantine for the full two weeks the CDC recommended at the time, to head out of state to spend some time at his vacation home in Florida while positive for an incredibly contagious disease.

While risking spreading a deadly disease by ignoring experts is enough in our mind to warrant an entry on this blog, there’s also the matter of the rest of Thompson’s voting record:

Bruce Thompson opted to not run for re-election to his seat in the Georgia State House of Representatives in 2022, instead aiming for a lower office and to be the next Georgia Commissioner of Labor. This will hopefully be the one time we profile him. Hopefully…
