A thought for some our our community members in need today. [1]

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, for those who recognize this as a holiday. I don’t, but I know many people do, even if it’s just a time to see family and relive old memories of past gatherings. (And I really, really dislike turkey, unless it’s the curry tandoori turkey my daughter’s mother-in-law fixed for us one year.) I’ll use the day as an excuse to make a whole pan of dressing, though, that I can eat all by myself, even if not in one meal. Other than that, spiced apples and a protein of some kind, and I will consider myself well fed.

Some of our own community members aren’t doing as well. The needs list has gained and lost a person or two over the last week. One member posted and had the need filled within a day, so that request didn’t even make it to the weekly list. Others are still here, still worried about how they will manage. Take a look, see if there’s a person or two who you feel you can help.

Some of our own community members need a little push to get over a hump. Maybe it’s an unexpected medical bill. Maybe there’s a life situation that has come up and requires resources beyond regular income. Maybe they just got behind and need help getting their footing again. For whatever reason they need help, Wednesdays are the day the Street Prophets diary focuses on those needs. Maybe you’ve skipped over this weekly diary, thinking the little you can give won’t make a difference. But you don’t have to meet a person’s entire need. If we all join together, the small amounts each person can contribute will add up to enough to make a difference in someone’s life. Even $2 or $5 or $10, when added to the mickle that others give, can be all that it takes.
