Melanoma Trump drooling over Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau may be unseemly but when we see her alternative we can understand.

If there were one reason why Democrats did so well--other than the hard work we all put in--it would be Slimedog Billionaire. That said, there is a nuance here that we shouldn't overlook.

Born of a revolution against its government, America remains suspicious of politicians. Much of the political discourse, most notably ads, will be negative. Speaking of ads, ad hominems that might be shocking elsewhere are de rigueur in the U.S.A. Unlike citizens of other democracies, Americans don't vote for initiatives, candidates or parties; they vote against them. Millions came out to Kansas--yes, it's a verb now--RepTealians after the Dobbs decision.

Why do incumbents, even charismatic and revered ones such as Barack Obama, lose their first midterm elections? In my view, it is because the party occupying the White House is the only one presenting a presidential candidate to vote against. That is what made the 2022 midterms unique, and the results so rare. The chances of the Orange Shartcake running in 2024 were, even before his post-election announcement, at least as good as those of Joe Biden. Both parties offered someone to vote against and Joe Biden is less objectionable than Red Don [by a factor approaching infinity]. Biden beat Orange U.M. BareAssed in 2020, again in 2022, and will yet again in 2024 [if Joe chooses to run].

While the Donkey Ho, T, continues to tilt at windmills, Republican Congress members are from the Avarice Faction, led by Senate Minority Leader Rigger Tortoise, rather than the Full Moon Fringe. Take a close look at the GOPers elected and, sure enough, it's turtles all the way down.
