The Root Cause of Mass Shootings in America [1]

There are some root causes of this epidemic of hatred and gun violence in our Country and it starts with the Christian coalition's alignment with the republican party to elect Ronald Reagan. And The republicans have been appeasing them since and each decade the violence has become worse, at first just words of hatred which have evolved into people being gunned down by weapons of war in Clubs, Schools, Stadiums, supermarkets, and places of worship, you name it. In 2022 you can be shot down at any time anywhere it seems for no reason other than the hatred in the mind of the person holding the assault weapon wherever you just happen to be at that time. What was in the heads of our leaders letting the assault Weapons Ban expire putting massive amounts of weapons of war back on the streets of the United States? And we all know things have become much more heated since 2016 when Trump was elected. Right Wing Extremists, Racists, and just plain awful people have become emboldened.

We have to start holding politicians accountable for their words and deeds. We need to make sure that when they stand up in Congress or the Senate, they are not using hate speech to divide us but actually working together on solutions. It starts with understanding that words and rhetoric matter, it is not just a game of political chess where one can just say whatever for their own political gain. We have to make sure that we are electing people who will work together and not just spew hate speech for their own benefit.

Finally, it is time that our politicians start taking gun control seriously and pass laws that reduce the number of guns on the streets and limit access to assault weapons. We need to make sure that only responsible people who have passed background checks are allowed to purchase firearms and that they understand their responsibilities when it comes to gun safety. We do many things in order for people to be able to legally operate motor vehicles. Why is it so hard to make it so when buying weapons? If you want to own one you must get training, register it, and you are responsible for it if it is ever used in a crime. I do not think I am being unreasonable. I grew up around guns my whole life. I remember when the NRA was a sportsman club, not a lobbying arm for the weapons industry. Our elected officials must stand up and protect our children, because if they do not who will? We need a sense of urgency on this issue now more than ever. If nothing is done it will only get worse. We cannot let politicians continue to play politics when lives are at stake.

It is time for us to take action and what has happened with the mass shooting at Club Q in Colorado Springs over the weekend just breaks my heart. We had just dealt with a mass shooting at a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado. and let's look at the list of mass shootings here in Colorado starting with Columbine, the Aurora Theatre Shooting, and others that I have forgotten the names of that is how many there have been here in Colorado, so can we please call a cease-fire? But as we know since Columbine it has spread like a virus from state to state touching communities large and small. So maybe think about the things you say or are writing before doing so. And more importantly, think about what the people you vote for are saying because we are in a very dark moment in our Country. We have to come together and demand a better tomorrow. Our children deserve it, our future deserves it. So let's put an end to mass shootings once and for all!
