Did you know about this? Federal law puts the same laws across the United States on hate crimes, but not the State laws. 16 states have the most laws on the books that protect citizens in all aspects of hate crimes. The states that protect the least are South Carolina and Wyoming sharing 1st place on their own with no laws on the books for hate crimes with Arkansas taking second place with only one law against hate crimes and Wisconsin lacking laws for Gender/Sex Gender Identity. Let that sink in people because if hate happens to you in your state you may not have any type of protections like these 16 States in order to stop this horrible trend? Why? Well some of these hate crimes are never reported locally and yes even frowned upon reporting.
The thing I want to point out is you don’t need your local or state police permission to report a crime to the FBI. I heard this was happening but I don’t know if it actually is. I just heard it was. So I will point out both to be fair for everyone. Just do your home work for your area and find out what your laws are but always remember the FBI can be contacted for hate crimes you don’t need permission locally to report it to the FBI.
