Could the Dem's Pick the Next Speaker? [1]

The new Speaker of the House needs to win a majority of all of the representatives. The Dems have shown great discipline under Pelosi. They are likely to do the same under Jeffries (with Pelosi’s help). What’s to prevent Jeffries from going to one of the non-MAGA, non-election denying Republican representatives and make a deal? The Dems will support his/her nomination for Speaker with their 212 votes with certain conditions. The Speaker-candidate would only need to find 5 Republican friends to support his/her nomination. The deal might include that Dems stay on their current committees but lose the chairmanships. The deal might include limited investigations and impeachments of the Dems. There might be other conditions. It would be better than having McCarthy as Speaker under the control of Empty Greene.
