Thrown together in five minutes but you get the idea.
VoxSwift might be a decent identity for a Twitter replacement. I’d argue it’s even a better identity than twitter, since the original connotation of twittering has an implication more akin to “chaotic babbling of no importance”.
Vaux’s Swift is a fleet, aerodynamic bird with a 12” wingspan, native to North and South America. It migrates yearly, from North to South and back again (naturally!) Here in Portland, Oregon, attentive crowds gather in a large field in the NW of the city each September. Over a handful of evenings, huge groups of these graceful avian acrobats perform swarming dives into an old brick schoolyard chimney—all at once!—as if responding to an intangible signal brought on by the gloaming. It’s beautiful, and a pinnacle of coordinated group communication. (Even better than Cirque de Soleil.)
VoxSwift, then: “fast voices” with the overlaid intentional layers of community action, social behaviors, grace, and (possibly) being worth paying attention to. Plus it’s a small bird, so there’s some lateral move in terms of branding, metaphors, etc..
Here’s a video of the birds doing their thing:
