Good day and welcome to DKos Asheville. This is the weekly DKos Asheville Open Thread for Saturday, November 18th, 2022.

We offer this space every weekend to give readers a variety of links to local and regional news of interest, and open the floor for comment and discussion. Wishing all a good day from beautiful Western North Carolina.

Dear friends and strangers, DKos Asheville will be on Automatic with no direct input from me for the remainder of the year. The blog will stay active and scheduled for every Saturday at 1:00pm, so for those in the area, please feel free to jump on board and contribute some local goodness. This change will also apply to North Carolina Open Thread.

I cannot imagine how I can adequately thank you all for the wonderful comments in my diary about Joy’s passing. Just know that they all hold power and grace in my heart, and for that I am grateful. The balance was sage and familiar and filled to the brim with love. I will keep all of those nuggets close forever. And don’t worry, I’ll stay in touch. Peace on us all.
