Twitter may literally shut down as soon as Monday. That’s not hyperbole. Yesterday Musk, who already fired half the staff, gave an ultimatum to the other half telling them that they had until 5pm today to agree to his new, draconian terms of employment or they were out w/3 months severance. This evening multiple sources are reporting that hundreds of the ~3,700 remaining employees—and potentially up to ¾ of them—have told Musk to go to hell and are bailing.

x From one of the remaining Twitter employees: “It (Twitter) has about a week left before it’s dead.” — Travis Akers (@travisakers) November 18, 2022

x !!! “I know of six critical systems (like ‘serving tweets’ levels of critical) which no longer have any engineers," "There is no longer even a skeleton crew manning the system. It will continue to coast until it runs into something, and then it will stop.”https://t.co/5lmWQHX2ft — Nitasha Tiku (@nitashatiku) November 18, 2022

x Twitter’s Slack currently has hundreds of employees giving the 🫡 emoji, meaning they decided to not stay for Musk’s “Twitter 2.0” cultural reset. The company had just under 3,000 employees remaining before the deadline to say “yes” or not hit 20 min ago. — Alex Heath (@alexeheath) November 17, 2022

x This is incredible: An *enormous* thread of all the Twitter employees quitting right now. https://t.co/OF2qTUc6Gm — Brian Fitzpatrick (@therealfitz) November 18, 2022

x NEW: Twitter just alerted employees that effective immediately, all office buildings are temporarily closed and badge access is suspended. No details given as to why. — Zoë Schiffer (@ZoeSchiffer) November 17, 2022

If you use Twitter at all (whether you follow me there or not) and haven’t done so yet, I strongly recommend setting up an account at Mastodon ASAP because Twitter may be going down for the count.
