Former President Trump
The Republican Party is Doomed by Trump and Greed
I know many people that used to be a Republican. But since starting around 2017 I have seen them all questioning their loyalty to it. They were once card-carrying republicans but not anymore. And, after the disastrous midterm elections this year, it's abundantly clear that the party is doomed. The recent midterm elections were disastrous for the party, and Trump is to blame. Trump has always been the destruction of the Republican party as it was known before 2015, your dad’s republican party! But now Trump is destroying the current version of it that seems to be based on Trump’s Personality over his vanity by announcing a run for the presidency in 2024 when all the races from this election have not even been decided yet. And no one in the republican party wanted him to do that but he did it anyway. And of course, he is using it as another fund-raising device to defend him and possibly prevent or delay criminal charges being brought against him. Whatever happens, trump will be sure to play the victim so he can continue to fundraise off of people who most likely cannot afford to be giving the money that they do send him. It's truly sickening to see how low this man has brought the republican party, which I never thought could get any lower, I hope they never recover.
The Downfall of the Republican Party
There was a time when the Republican Party was a force for good in this country. They were the party of Abraham Lincoln, after all. But that was a long time ago. In recent years, the party has been taken over by extremists and ideologues who care more about ideology than they do about governing. As a result, we've seen a series of self-inflicted wounds: from shutting down the government over an ideological disagreement to refusing to consider qualified Supreme Court nominees because they were nominated by a Democratic president. And now, under Donald Trump, we are seeing the final nail in the coffin of the Republican Party.
And that is because Trump is a loser. The thing he hates the most. Maybe that's why I do not know I am not a psychiatrist. But I do know he's turned the Republican Party into a Trump-centric, extremist, and dysfunctional mess. And in doing so, he has ensured the defeats in this last election. Trump has energized the Democratic base and turned off independents just by showing up in those last few weeks. There is no more hiding the fact that he has cozied up to dictators while alienating our allies. He has pissed off nearly everyone with his chaotic and egotistical governing style. And he did most of this while overseeing an economy that is sputtering at best. Which became worse because of his decisions regarding the Virus & Vaccine. In short, Trump has been and still is a recipe for disaster for the Republican Party.
But even if Putin had not interfered and Trump never was the president, the republican party would still be in trouble. They have been taken over by ideologues and extremists who are more concerned with ideology than governing. As a result, they have become a party of self-inflicted wounds: from shutting down the government to refusing to consider qualified Supreme Court nominees and stacking it with those that were not. The Republican Party is on the brink of collapse, and Trump is just hastening their demise.
Trump is systematically destroying everything that once made the Republican Party great (in a conservative’s eyes anyway). He alienated traditional allies like business leaders and conservative intellectuals. He cozied up to dictators and strongmen while insulting our democratic allies. He tried to tear apart long-standing institutions like NATO and multilateral trade agreements. And he did all of this in service of his own ego and personal gain, without any regard for what is best for America or for the world.
The Republican Party is finished. It's been taken over by extremists and ideologues who care more about ideology than they do about governing. As a result, we've seen a series of self-inflicted wounds: from shutting down the government over an ideological disagreement to refusing to consider qualified Supreme Court nominees because they were nominated by a Democratic president. And later stacking the court in order to overturn 50 years of women’s rights. And now, with Donald Trump announcing his run for the presidency in 2024 at the worst time possible for the republican party, we are seeing the final nail in the coffin of the Republican Party. It won’t happen overnight; this will be like a big bag of rats fighting to get out. It’s my belief the site of all the infighting within the republican party will turn off even more people and a new party will be formed. Trump is systematically destroying everything that once made the Republican Party great—and he's doing it all for his own benefit with no regard for what's best for America or for the world at large.
