Is this the beginning of the end of Trumpism?

Political movements have a half-life; it’s impossible to predict how long they will last. What’s clear is that Donald Trump’s has kicked in. A month ago, the Washington Examiner editorialized that Trump was unfit for office. Last Friday, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Post, both owned by Rupert Murdoch, declared Trump should fade away. The Post wrote in an editorial that “as a matter of principle, as a matter of character, Trump has proven himself unworthy to be this country’s chief executive again.” The Journal echoed the sentiment: “Character is revealed in a crisis, and Mr. Pence passed his Jan. 6 trial. Mr. Trump utterly failed his.”

David Muir asked Pence whether Trump should ever be President again.

David, I think that’s up to the American people to answer. But I think we’ll have better choices in the future.

x So I just asked Siri what President Biden’s approval rating is. 55%, a figure higher than Trump ever received in 4 years. I myself think it’s much higher. So let’s do a polling. Do you approve of President Biden? Yes or No pic.twitter.com/52jJSBC2J7 — Jerseygirl #FBR (@gggirl924) November 13, 2022

More Blame

The Telegraph: US midterms: Republicans blame Trump for losing Senate

Joe Biden 'incredibly pleased' after Nevada secures Democrats' victory, as Republicans look to Ron DeSantis.

Fox News Stars Squabble Over How Much Trump’s to Blame for Midterms

Three Fox News stars on Sunday publicly squabbled over whether former President Donald Trump or Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is to blame for the Republican Party’s midterm elections flop—a preview of the divisions taking hold within the GOP and the cable-news outlet that often acts as its de facto communications arm.

The article quotes

Mo Brooks says Trump ‘dishonest, disloyal, incompetent, crude’

It’s a Republican relationship that began imploding more than a year ago when Brooks – the outgoing congressman from Huntsville – said at a Trump rally in August 2021 that voters should take the Trump-objected 2020 presidential election and “put that behind you.”

Donald Trump throws drowning Kari Lake an anchor

I assume everyone is watching Arizona as the great Kari Lake’s easy election win is slowly, yet systematically, being drained away from her, and from the American people. This is a very sad thing to watch. Mail in Ballots, long election counts, many day elections, machines that very few people understand, massive counting centers, and more, are an American disaster. Our elections have become an unreliable joke, and the whole world is watching.

“DO NOT CONCEDE” was trending among the False Believers on Twitter.

x Ted Cruz and other MAGA Republicans blame Mitch McConnell for the GOP loss in the midterms because he didn't invest enough money in AZ and other states. Of course, they'll never blame Trump for not spending a dime on these races from the $100 million he raised. #Cult — Republicans against Trumpism (@RpsAgainstTrump) November 14, 2022

Forget Trump, Ted Cruz May Be the Biggest Loser of the Midterm Elections

In the aftermath of a disastrous midterm for Republicans, the blame game has mostly focused on former President Donald Trump’s ongoing ballot box toxicity. But conservatives might also want to cast a more critical eye on the record of another self-styled GOP influencer: Sen. Ted Cruz. Cruz put his stamp on more than two dozen GOP candidates this midterm, and it did not go well. Most of them either lost or, with some totals still trickling in, are currently losing.
