Rupert Murdoch is threatening to back a Democrat in ‘24. Let’s have some fun! [1]

Not so chummy anymore, innit?
The results of the November 8, 2022 midterms confirm to us these three absolute truths:
1. Voters are not clamoring for radical fascist policies despite what Fox “News” says.
2. Gen-Z will gallop Republicans into becoming a permanent minority party in the future and 2022 was a preview to that.
3. Trump is the most toxic detriment to the national electability of the Republican Party we’ve ever seen.
And the Republican elite is waking up to that stark reality.
As it was reported on iNews, Fox CEO and conservative media mogul Keith Rupert Murdoch is reportedly backing DeSantis over Trump.
To make good of his unusually stern threat, sources are reporting he could even get behind a ‘non-Biden’ Democrat over the former guy should he run for president again.
How serious is Murdoch about joining the anti-Trump train? Take it from this source in the article:
[The source] added that if the Democrats could “find a credible candidate to take Joe’s place” then the Murdoch media empire could back the Democrats against Mr Trump “for the sake of stability and a sensible White House”.
While I’m taking this article with a grain of salt, historical precedent shows that the Murdochs are not above backing centre-left parties. Rupert famously backed British Prime Minister Tony Blair in his landslide 1997 general election victory. He once even fundraised for Hillary Clinton, if you can believe that.
Now I’m not saying we should be clamoring for the endorsement of the slimiest, vilest businessman living today. (Only real ones, sorry Donald!) What I’m saying is why don’t we take a break from the craziness of election week to toy around with and devise the craziest hypotheticals we could come up with like a game of Mad Libs on acid because it’s been clear since June 8, 2015 *anything* could happen nowadays. Anything. I’ll start with mine:
What if Trump tomorrow announced his run to easily re-clinch the GOP nomination while Biden steps down to let AOC have her run for president?
To throw in for good measure, let’s say she lets Ilhan Omar in as her running mate.
Can you guys imagine Hannity, Tucker, Ingraham, et al. having to read out from their teleprompters fawning praise for the Democrat(ic) Cortez-Omar ticket the way they praised Trump from 2017-2021?

I mean look. If they *really* believed their bullshit they could protest Murdoch’s demand to pivot and quit in protest. But these guys got families to feed don’t they?
So they’re stuck in a catch-22 situation: either they pivot as Daddy Rupert tells them to and expose themselves as frauds — or continue pandering to a shrinking, aging base that’s being *replaced* (wink wink, Tuckums) by a generation that sees through their lies and deceit.
In a wilder world, Murdoch’s refusal to back Trump means losing the cult that make up Fox News’s audience — destroying its ratings and profitability amidst NewsCorp’s costly lawsuits over disinformation it spread around the 2020 election — means he’ll die a penniless man. An ending so befitting a businessman of his class you’d swear Citizen Kane was a documentary.
Unlikely, but can’t this bleeding heart liberal dream for once?
