This vent-hole (hereinafter known as IVH), if lost or stolen will not be replaced or purchase price refunded. Violation of IVH rules will result in expulsion without refund. So, I’m keeping an eye on the coming (hopefully) launch of the Artemis Moon Rocket. Here is the link to a live broadcast and it should happen within an hour or two of this diary posting. 1:04am-3:04am EST

It’s hard to believe that it has been 50 years since we last went to the moon. Here is a brand new Moon rocket, making an unmanned test flight to the Moon and back, to be sure the systems work as intended. During the Apollo years, I thought we would have a manned Lunar base or two by now, I mean, it’s been 50 years and it only took us 10 to get there the first time. Kennedy inspired us to beat the Russians to the Moon and once we did that, the Federal Government cut the funding for the program and cancelled Apollo flights 18, 19, 20 and 21.

Now we are going back, this time to beat the Chinese to the Moon, will we build Lunar bases this time or just say “oh well, we beat them, good enough!”? We should have been using the ISS as a parking garage for Lunar landers to be resupplied in orbit and sent to the Moon from there. It’s been a lot of “nearly wasted” years just stumbling along exceeding the design limits of the space shuttle fleet and the greatest loss of life in the space programs history. Tragic that they were, we were still leading the world in technology, after the loss of Columbia, we basically passed the technology on to the Russians and counted on their rockets to keep ISS alive. May we continue flying to the Moon and not leave the Lunar bases dependent on other nations to keep them going.
