NBC calls AZ Gov race for Katie Hobbs [1]

With the evening’s vote count from Pima County and the recent one from Maricopa County, it’s over. NBC has declared Katie Hobbs the new Governor of Arizona. Hobbs has a 20,481 vote lead with 97% of the votes counted. Count that as another major flip from the R to the D column. Well done Arizona!

CNN’s announcement followed shortly thereafter with a little more editorial context on Hobb’s vile fascist opponent Kari Lake -

Many political pundits have been singing this tune all day, since the math was simply not there for Lake to make up the deficit.

All in all, this is a massive victory for Democrats, given the history of losses by the incumbent party during midterm elections and the obstacles created by the MAGA party to prevent fair elections. Credit goes to every group and every individual who took the initiative to GOTV and to many first-time voters. We can still help with small donations and volunteering for candidates in uncalled races and the GA Senate runoff.
