We do need 51 Democratic Senate seats. It will quicken the judicial confirmation process [1]

After our great Senate win last night in Nevada, that gave Democrats the majority, I noticed this tweet in my feed:

Kyle received plenty of pushback for this tweet and rightly so. I’m sure there are some thinking the same, but we can’t be complacent. We need that 51st seat in Georgia and noted legal scholar Steve Vladeck explains why:
x Three huge differences between a 50-50 and 51-49 D majority:
1) Having a majority on each Committee versus power sharing/deadlocks requiring discharge petitions;
2) No single D Senator can hijack/block nominations; and

Making it easier to confirm judges will continue to reverse the severe damage Trump’s confirmations have had on the judiciary.
Chuck Schumer said this last night:
“Senate Democrats have been committed to restoring balance to the federal judiciary with professionally and personally diverse judges,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer told NBC News on Saturday night. “With two more years of a Senate Democratic majority we will build on our historic pace of judicial confirmations and ensure the federal bench better reflects the diversity of America.
Imagine two more years with less GOP gridlock. The Senate confirming Biden’s judicial nominees at a more expeditious pace and let us not forget about another BIG bonus: 51 Democratic Senate seats basically neutralizes Joe Manchin.
It’s so darn important we re-elect Senator Raphael Warnock. Democrats indeed need 51. So let’s go!
