ap reports it’s too early to call the arizona governor’s election. if it were my call, i’d make it now. the secretary of state’s website reports hobbs presently in the lead by close to 38,000 votes. the outcome is still not set in stone, with the sos also reporting some ~375,000 votes yet to be counted(some are not yet verified, which has to happen before they’re tabulated and added to the totals).

as of 4pm saturday, pima county was reporting ~47,600 ballots "ready for tabulation," plus ~5,800 ballots not yet verified, for a total of ~53,400 "estimated total number of uncounted ballots." they're still reporting ~275,00 "estimated total number of uncounted ballots" for maricopa county, and another ~18,000 for pinal county. that total of ~346,000 ballots is well over 90% of all uncounted votes statewide. are there still a lot of votes to count? yes indeed. but chew on this--hobbs' share of counted ballots in maricopa county so far is ~52.5%, pima county ~61%--lake is leading in pinal county with ~58% of the vote. even if what some observers say is correct, that ballots turned in on election day tend more republican than those received prior, it's hard for me to see a path for lake to overcome what the arizona sos currently reports as ~38,000 vote lead for hobbs.

if it’s up to me, i'm about ready to call the race for hobbs. rotsa ruck kari.
