Massive, Voters supported Reproductive Rights. They’re going to continue to support Reproductive Rights. It is not — as Kayleigh McEnany says — that people are going to “Forget Abortion.”
x Kayleigh: The final factor I think was abortion.. The victory over the summer is the victory for the rule of law. It's more enormous than a slight margin in the house. We have to look at the long game. Abortion will go away. pic.twitter.com/fwVGuYq8kv — Acyn (@Acyn) November 10, 2022 "Roe v. Wade, and overturning it, was profoundly more important than any short-term politics," she said. "The victory that happened over the summer was a victory for the rule of law, and it is far more enormous than any slight margin in the House could have been. So we've got to look at the long game: Abortion's going to go away."
Yeah, I really don’t think so.
Secondarily a major issue for voters — was Democracy itself. There was indeed a direct challenge to Democracy presented by many Trump-endorsed politicians. Many who promoted the “Big Lie” during the primaries often backed off of those claims during the general, and they paid the price for it. This now has the Right Wing massively scrambling and casting blame on Trump’s candidates.
x x YouTube Video Both the House and Senate remain in play, and a number of Donald Trump's endorsed candidates are losing, including Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake -- who questioned the results in her race and slammed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for taking the spotlight away from the former president. "Am I the only one who sees this?" said co-host Mika Brzezinski. "She is so Trumpy that Trump is mad at DeSantis, calls him 'DeSanctimonious' -- I don't know what that really means. It's incoherent -- just had to go after him a little bit. High school." "Welcome to Republicans in disarray," said former GOP lawmaker David Jolly. "This goes to the premise of the earlier conversation, this notion that they're going to quickly get past Donald Trump or this rapid coronation of Ron DeSantis is not happening. Here's why. In the last 72 hours, Kari Lake has thrown her loyalty to Donald Trump. Matt Gaetz said Donald Trump is the next candidate -- are you supporting Donald Trump or not, and the problem is, look, some of them will do it out of fealty and loyalty and craziness, that's the Kari Lake play. The others, like Rick Scott, will do it because they have to."
Yeah, that doesn’t seem to be working.
“Civil War” has been the mind frame of the Republican Base, but these people are not even he majority of Republicans.
These people are driven by delusions and lies. They may be the most energized with the part — but they aren’t the entire party.
Under Joe Biden and the unified government passed the Inflation Reduction Act which put cash back into the pocket of Americans. They passed the American Rescue Plan, which kept teachers and police in their jobs. They relieved Student Loan Debt. They passed a historic Infrastructure Act. They passed the Chips bill and the Burn Pit bill to bring health care to veterans. All of these items polled above water. All of these items are popular with the American people.
Passing legislation that helps the American people — hmph, imagine that.
Right now, control of the House and Senate balances on a knife edge. Mostly what remains are mail-in and early votes which skew strongly democratic and may be the deciding factor in the Arizona Senate race between Mark Kelly (D) and Blake Masters (R) and the Nevada Senate race between Catherine Cortez-Masto (D) and Adam Laxalt (R). If both these races break for the Democrats — that puts us at 50 seats in the Senate with the result of the Warnock v Walker race in Georgia being a bonus.
This would make Joe Manchin irrelevant.
We just might be able to pass redistricting reform, police reform and restore the voting rights act in the next cycle.
That’s a future that absolutely no Republican saw coming.
