Today we honor all the animals who have helped to fight wars or save lives in war time.
Our newest honoree: Patron, the mine sniffing dog who has saved many lives both human and animal without doubt, due to his keen nose.
Dogs, horses, pigeons, elephants; you name it, the animal has served in some capacity. Sometimes only as comfort and distraction
Sometimes as draft animals, pulling or pushing.
camels and horses have been cavalry mounts
pigeons, rats, pigs, have been used as messengers and spies
dolphings, seals and sealions, and even whales have been trained.
Norway shelters beluga whale thought to have been used as a spy
