GOPers in CA CD30 had a choice of voting for Adam Schiff or trans drag queen Maebe A. Girl [1]

MAGA Republicans have a visceral hatred of Rep. Adam Schiff. He was the lead House impeachment manager for Donald Trump’s 2020 Senate trial and now is serving on the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection. Trump has his own derogatory nicknames for Schiff: “Adam Schitt,” “Pencil Neck” and “Shifty Schiff.”
But when it came to voting in California’s 30th Congressional District, MAGA Republicans had a choice between Schiff and Maebe A. Girl — a trans, non-binary drag queen (pronouns She/They), who ran as a progressive to the left of Schiff.

Needless to say GOPers were none too pleased by the choice on the ballot.

That’s because the top two finishers in California’s open jungle primary were both Democrats -- Schiff and Maebe A. Girl. The district includes Burbank, Glendale and West Hollywood.

As a drag queen, Maebe A. Girl became known for doing satirical impressions of Republican women, including Melania Trump, Betsy DeVos and Sarah Huckabee Sanders. She became the first known drag queen ever elected to office when she won a seat on the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council in 2019 focusing on addressing the issue of homelessness.
Girl was not a joke candidate. She considers herself a progressive who shares similar policy positions to Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortz, She is strongy pro-LGBTQ and supports Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, and abortion rights.
Of course, Schiff ended up winning easily, but Girl has been making a respectable showing with 28% of the vote counted so far.
