This is my first story on DK.
Pennsylvania State House Democrats declared a stunning victory for the General Assembly. We were given barely any chance to win the State House by anyone in the media. Fortunately we were able to secure a fair map due to three victories in 2015 State Supreme Court races, which were followed by the reformed Court overturning the uber-aggressive Congressional gerrymander in 2018 and drawing fair maps following the 2020 elections.
The Speaker-elect Joanna McClinton will be the first African-American Speaker of the PA State House. As a reminder, the Commonwealth of PA has never elected a woman or African-American to Governor or Senator. Democrats announced their victory under a gorgeous blue sky in Philadelphia.
I can tell you personally there was a massive grass roots effort to make this happen, with people knocking doors all over the state and in hostile areas.
