Progressive Summer Lee is set to once again make history in Pennsylvania politics [1]

At the time of writing, Democrat Summer Lee is set to win her bid for a seat in PA’s 12th Congressional district, making her the first Black woman from Pennsylvania to do so. Lee ran for Pennsylvania’s 12th (which includes Pittsburgh) against Republican Mike Doyle, who is staunchly anti-abortion and wants to cut funding for both Social Security and Medicare. (To be clear: This is not the Democrat Mike Doyle, also from Pennsylvania, who is retiring.)

Lee, as you might remember from past coverage here at Daily Kos, was elected to the state House in 2018, where she made history as the first Black woman from western Pennsylvania elected to the state legislature.
