Abortion and the Election (quick commentary) [1]

A lot of site members are excited and optimistic that the loss of abortion will help Dems win.

While winning is better than losing, this attitude is f*cked up.

Abortion restrictions have caused a lot of well documented harm. If the Senate is less than 51 D, or house goes R, or some other pro filibuster Dems come out of hiding, abortion restrictions continue for years and cause more harm.

Accepting this harm so angry people win an election is a bad way to go about it. Better to actively prepare ahead of time so that winning doesn't come down to such a trade. Or isn't even that close. The point of electing Dems is supposed to be for them to govern well, pass useful things, which we benefit from. Not trade good things for an election.

Whatever happens tomorrow happens, I'm writing this at night. But something to remember for the next round.
