Word on the street is, Steve Bannon ‘begged’ Brazilian president-autocrat to contest the recent election, which Bolsonaro appears to have narrowly lost.

Bolsonaro refused. We can only guess as to why. But for now, he has spared Brazil the agony of civil unrest. My guess is, it’s because bad as he is for Brazilian politics, he respects his Brazilian voters enough to not lie to their faces. He’ll play his next moves in Congress, which is not a bad thing compared to contesting an election.

I just wish America had the same caliber of human being as the ‘thought leaders’ of the Republican party. It’s just so damned tragic that the American people allowed these extremists a toe-hold on public power, and live inside the American mind, by not understanding that using ‘marked’ voters to create election districts is the same as allowing marked cards in a poker game! Partisan gerrymandering exchanges ‘extremism’ for accountable government, for an extremism in political partisanship. And here we are. The evening before the most consequential election in my lifetime, wondering if the extremist minority of a political cult is about to walk the majority of America off a cliff.

But one thing we can say: Jair Bolsonaro is a better man than !@#$^ Trump.
