I Voted Early, and Encouraged My Students to Vote [1]

Even though I voted early back on Tuesday, I wore my sticker to teach my two sections of First-Year Writing (aka “Freshman Comp”) today, since we only meet on Mondays. At the end of class, I mentioned the sticker and encouraged my students to participate in our democracy, reminding them that the state allows registration as late as election day.

The University of Minnesota, like the state generally, has high voter participation, but I wanted to provide a reminder/role model for my 18/19 year-olds for whom this midterm election is their first opportunity to vote.
