Elon’s carrying a bathroom sink into the Twitter building to message the phrase “let this sink in” is as smart as he’ll ever get. Just wait until he tries to run for political office.
Elonism does seem more attractive than trumpism if only because Elon’s not the capitalist loser that Trump has always been. The 21% of Americans who overestimate the population is 21% transgendered are likely stupid, ignorant, or as one might say prior to Tuesday, Low-Information-Voters. They’re the idiots who follow the Trump rallies to reinforce whatever nonsense Mango Mussolini peddles.
Musk is likely no Henry Ford, considering that he misunderstands the historically material role of technology but promotes it better like Starlink in Ukraine is OK as long as the Russians don’t mind. Oh, wait… Elon’s no more bigoted than Ford’s admiration of the Nazis.
Twitter’s a very expensive indulgence for Musk if only because he bought outright what Trump failed to do by trying to promote its alternatives. Likely Musk will sell Twitter, even at a loss, and likely to someone outside of the US, because he’s just trying to out-Dorsey Jack Dorsey’s libertarian vision for the platform. For Musk free speech means on Twitter you’re only going to be exposed to phalluses rather than penises on Omegle, where the real pedophiles roam.
I just joined Mastodon because I still believe in social media contacts and community but am only on platforms like Twitter to provide content for my blogging whereas my community is on places like Discord rather than Facebook.
x Twittertown has a new mayor—and it’s as if the Penguin has taken over Gotham, writes @davidfrum:

x Celebrities such as comedian Kathy Griffin and “Mad Men” star Rich Sommer have already have their accounts removed for changing their usernames and photos to match Elon Musk’s.

x Best advice: Ignore the skewed polls. Focus on e-day turnout. Dems are in position to win!
3 days out, Dems are up a whopping 4.2 million in the early voting—higher than this point in 2018 and 2020.
Talk to family & friends. Make sure everybody votes!

Right-wingers are so stupid that they’ll attack school boards and libraries rather than these platforms. x What's the worst social media app? If you said Twitter or Instagram or even Facebook, you're wrong. It's actually Omegle.
https://t.co/1j2FsjEsK2 — Mother Jones (@MotherJones) November 7, 2022 Omegle has been able to exist for so long thanks to Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996. It essentially states that interactive computer services, like Facebook or Twitter, are not themselves publishers and are therefore not liable for what users post or do on those platforms. At the time it was drafted, Section 230 was heralded as a key feature protecting free speech when the rest of the CDA was considered by many to be a threat to open discourse online. The CDA was written long before the age of social media, mass disinformation campaigns, social unrest fomented by lies of a stolen election, and of course, sites like Omegle. It’s now one of the most contentious issues in Congress, a lightning rod for debates over the boundaries of free speech. While Section 230 ostensibly excludes from protection any website that facilitates criminal conduct, Omegle claims it’s nothing more than a communications platform, as neutral as AT&T. “Omegle…operates against the backdrop of Section 230,” which “is widely recognized as playing a vital role in the free exchange of information and ideas on the internet,” declares Omegle’s fact sheet. For Carrie Goldberg, such a claim is laughable. “The difference [between Omegle and Facebook or Instagram] is that those platforms have some legitimate uses,” she says, echoing a claim she makes in her lawsuit. On Omegle, she continues, “a kid is, you know, going to be exposed to adult penises.” www.motherjones.com/...
