NightDrift's Nightly Open Thread Pub #8 - Daylight Savings + Last Unwind before MidTerms! [1]

Come on in, listen to some music, take a load off, de-stress and talk about your day, hobbies, upcoming plans/projects or just listen to some music and for love all things good, GOTV!!!

For those who’ve been here during the grand opening, welcome back. For the newcomers, welcome to the NightDrifter’s Nightly Pub! This is the place to listen to some music and unwind yourself, post some good news and talk about any projects or plans you have for either the next day or the upcoming week. This place is heavily inspired by the Night Owl Blogs that used to pop up on the site as well as a bit of Good News Roundup’s evening blog and I wanted to try my own spin at it as well as give people a place to unwind and relax as well as to talk.



If you like music, want to unwind, de-stress and talk with your fellow Kossacs without the stress of life, come on in, as we could all use a relaxing space; Leave all your worries and troubles behind here, but please, GOTV in the process!



Unfortunately, I think this one is going to be more a grounded/somber bit, as I want to air my own thoughts out; It’s my own plans in case things goes south. Here’s my few thoughts/questions



#1: In the event that we come up short and lose the House and/Or the Senate and if this is Democracy’s final bow, what do we, as citizens of the US, do when the power of the vote is at best, a pointless tally and at worse, a over glorified coronation comes to pass? Do we find a way to elect a new leader of the free world that’s more about VALUES and the people’s well being over profit? (Some of the EU members, Canada, Japan(?) Australia(?) can fill this role)



#2 : Do we try to find some allies that can come to our aid in our time of need and help right the ship we’re in or at least, save as many as we can? Some say that nobody is coming to our rescue, but if they don’t it’s their necks on the line as well, so that should give some motivation to jump in.



#3 : Do we all try our best to find a way to flee the country in an attempt to brain and resource drain the rogue US and reinforce the other free, democratic countries and play the waiting game on the US being a hallowed out country, enough to where we can potentially try to take the country back from the fascist orcs? (If this plan was possible, Climate Change stops this idea from being a possibility.)



#4 : Perhaps we try to get our loved ones out of harm’s way and living better lives in said countries that still has a democracy along with free and fair elections/ keeping a lid on fascists and let our loved ones try to be the wall until the US can sort Itself out?



#5 : Maybe we try to get our democratic allies to possibly put a thumb in our elections so we can try to repair the damage being done? The worse bit here is the US military; If they side with the fascists, then I don’t think there’s even a counter play anymore, we’d be waiting for father time to solve this and in the meantime, the free world takes a bunch of hits, possibly democracy ending ones, never mind the fact that COVID will be the least of our worries.



#6 : For Ukraine, at best, they’re going to have to double time and win the war rapidly quick, since If I remember, Lend Lease expires Summer 2023? and at worst, they’re going to have to win with a heavy handicap since the support will slowly be dried up and Putin gets a second wind.



I ask these questions because it’s sadly, a real possibility and for me, even if it’s potentially a short term solution and even then I’d argue how short, is possibly being an “American Refugee” and leaving the U.S for good. What I’m personally doing is planning for this potential outcome and I would offer some of you keep it in mind on where you possibly plan to go.



Once you lose a Democracy, while not impossible to get back, it’s a nightmare to do so and keep in mind, Climate Change is looming around our heads; We may not be able to get it back in time, IF all of us stays. As or me, I got a few people to go vote and I did my early voting, so no matter what, I did my part.



So, the main theme for this post is this: Work hard and hope for the best, prepare/expect the worst; G.O.T.V. No excuses. This means no blaming young people or older folks.; This is a team effort after all. Anyway, nothing is set in stone, so, again, I suggest focusing any and all energy into G.O.T.V and we’ll pick this up Wednesday.



Sorry if I’m not hopeful/optimistic, I’m just trying to have contingency plans at the ready, if things do turn for the worst and I broke my own rule of this being a relaxation spot; Won’t happen again, going forward!



Final bit: It’s up in the air if I do make one more NightDrift blog for tomorrow.
