Made for a friend...
I haven’t gotten started on my daughter’s quilt since I’ve been home from my month long road trip but I thought I’d put together something so that I can do my bit to host this week.
DK Quilt Guild: A place for quilters to gather, share ideas, projects, and to make the world a better place, one quilt at a time. Join us and share your thoughts, projects, questions, and tips. Quilters here are atFl many different levels of skill. Beginners and non-quilters are welcome, too.
I’ve been going through quilt photos lately and decided to make a collection of some of the T-shirt quilts I’ve done over the years.
Space Lap Quilt
This was one of my first t-shirt quilts. My ex was was an engineer in the space industry to we had a lot of these collected. I didn’t know to stabilize the t-shirt block. You can also see that a some of the kids shirt didn’t match a uniform size so we tried to compensate. I backed it with fleece and tied it instead of quilting it. There’s a learning curve and this was done in 1999.
This is another Space Quilt. Down in the left corner I added a couple of photos that we took at the launch of the satellite and I made one of them into a pocket to include some loose memorabilia. This wallhanging may be one of my favorites.
Wallhanging Space Quilt
This is my daughter’s college graduation quilt. She graduated from HS in 2000 and a lot of the class t-shirts over the years had 2000 on them. And then we used her favorite shirts from her childhood. This one got a little out of hand and I made the mistake of trying to quilt it on my Pfaff. It took me and Mom, one on each side of the table, to maneuver the damn thing!
Cathy’s Graduation Quilt
I don’t know why I don’t have a full photo of my son’s Eagle Scout Quilt… I added his Eagle Scout photo. The T-shirt in the upper right is from on of his 50 mile hikes (50 miles in 5 days).

Lizzie’s Sport Quilt side 1
I did a quilt for a friend who’s daughter had been active in sports in HS so we had to make a double sided quilt to fit all the shirts.

I’m afraid this might be too long (and I still have ½ dozen more) but I thought it’s a good place to stop. There’s so many interesting ways to put these together and it’s always a challenging puzzle to get the pieces to fall into place.
What have you all been up to this week?
