Election Math [1]

A math textbook problem certain to draw the ire of DeSantis and his Florida cronies:

Draw a four circle Venn Diagram Each voter is given a sticker dot to place in the region which bests describes them:

Circle 1: Cult of personality. These are individuals who cannot discern truth from fiction. Their unwillingness to study history, reason logically, and avoid conspiracy theories makes them a gullible and easy target to brainwash. I would also label this circle “denialists”.

Circle 2: Greed. These people feed off of fame, power and wealth. Their followers view life as a “zero sum” game: more for you is equivalent to less for me. Or I worked hard and am entitled to keep every penny. And I will do anything to keep my perceived “top” position.

Circle 3: Evil. White nationalists, Proud Boys, militiamen, Oath Keepers, QAnon followers, racists, antisemites, homophobes, misogynists, white supremacists, and all of those who identify with hate and extreme ideologies. Although there are some who use violent tactics and outright hateful speech to promote these dangerous ideologies, others prefer more subtle means which promote these identical viewpoints. For example, we have recently witnessed political rallies where attendees laugh out loud at cruel jokes at the expense of human beings harmed by violence as well as NBA players who prefer silence to openly condoning hateful speech. Others vote for school boards and measures to defund libraries in the hope of eliminating books which capture and celebrate the life experiences of the most marginalized of our society.

Circle 4: Criminals. These are not just the many people who have committed felonies as well as misdemeanors but those who believe that laws only apply to those who do not share a similar belief system. They have no respect for free and fair elections which preserve and protect the right of every citizen to vote; additionally they have no use for the US Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, or government institutions which seek to protect the rights and freedoms of All Americans and those who live in this country. They are the recently identified 2% who believe physical violence is justified as a means to decide an election in their favor.

So my message to all voters: Choose where to place your dot and choose carefully. My mom always said, “ You can tell the character of an individual by the company they keep.” If none of these attributes apply to you, I urge you to vote for your values and principles. VOTE DEMOCRAT!
