So, from what the news people tell me, as of this coming Monday--that would be the day before the midterm election, if you’re counting along at home—anyone can be anyone on Twitter. For eight bucks. Sayeth His Royal Painness:

“Twitter’s current lords & peasants system for who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bullshit. Power to the people! Blue for $8/month.”

“We need,” the site’s new overlord added, “To pay the bills somehow.”

Over the weekend, the site will be jettisoning thousands of content control employees, allowing the ongoing flood of MAGoids to the platform to continue to swell.

And then, on Monday, I can become someone verified on Twitter. Say, a state elections chief, or an influential voice in a key voting group. Eight bucks. Verification will essentially be meaningless, and much (Musk?) mischief will be possible come Tuesday.

Probably a great time to ignore the platform completely.
