Once again the meaning of words. We are always told that crime is skyrocketing. But is crime murder or shoplifting. The US is an outlier in Homicide rate, and some people call that crime. Also some people call any violent crime, crime. Some include property crime. Interestingly when other crimes are graphed the same way as murder using the same countries.

As this figure shows the US is not an outlier in reported robberies. The zeros for Taiwan and Japan are not zeros, but lack of reporting.

Another crime which is probably always reported is Auto theft. Even extremely safe Sweden has a higher rate of auto theft than the US. In the “crime index” the US is about average. above the UK and below Sweden ,worldpopulationreview.com/...https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/crime-rate-by-country, in 2022. These numbers change from year to year, and so do the trends, but the US is a perennial leader in the murder rate.

The problem is, duh, guns. The increase is in murders after 2020 is not due to a crime wave, Pew Research violent crime graph, its because crazy neighbors are shooting each other. “When guns aren’t regulated every crazy fool can have a gun.” end
