So yes, boys and girls, (I’m a Granny, so all of y’all are boys and girls compared to my age-which is actually ‘ageless.’)

The year was 1992. (I could still wear hotpants and halter tops and had a “Gheri-curl” (Oh God!). We were learning how to pronounce “sexual harraSS-ment,” or was it “sexual harr-ESS-ment”? That was courtesy of the Uncle Clarence Thomas/Professor Anita Hill SCOTUS hearings.

To say that women were PISSED-OFF by how Professor Hill was treated, would be the understatement of the century!! I lived in Illinois at the time and women mobilized to defeat the late former Senator Alan Dixon (who was one of only 11 Dems to vote for Uncle Clarence’s confirmation) in his bid for a third Senate term.

That year, Carol Moseley Braun became the first Black and the first woman U.S. Senator from Illinois, and first Black Senator (in modern times-since the Reconstruction Period) to serve. Along with her, we got Senators Feinstein, Boxer (CA), Murray, (WA), Mikulski (MD), along with 25 women elected to the House of Representatives. Truly “hell-hath-no-fury………...”

LADIES, (and the men who love you), we can do that sh*t again!! Because I’m not sure which is worse; putting a sexual predator on the highest court in the land (and it happened again with Kavanaugh), or having those two predators vote to overturn Roe v Wade and RIP AWAY a right that I and my contemporaries enjoyed (whether or not we ever used it-we still had the CHOICE). To think that our daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughters WON’T have this right-makes my blood boil!! (And mine “ain’t” the only blood that’s at 100 degrees!!)

HELL-to the NO!!! Not on our watch! Not when the heads of the three largest and most politically powerful feminist organizations, (Emily’s List, Planned Parenthood, and NARAL-Pro Choice), are headed by Black and women of color..

Not when the two prosecutors who are the most likely to put TFG in an orange jumpsuit, Fani Willis of Fulton County, GA and MY girl, Tish James of New York are on the case.

Not when powerful women are serving as, and/or are running for the different states’ most powerful offices (ex.-Gov Whitmer (MI), along with the incumbent Secretary of State and Attorney General, Jocelyn Benson and Dana Nessel, respectively.

And finally (I know-I’m WAAAAY too long-winded), not when we got candidates like Kathy Hochul of my adoptive state, New York, Stacey Abrams, Cheri Beaseley (NC)-(c’mon Dems-looking at you Jamie Harrison-help a sista out-she CAN win in NC)-and so many other outstanding candidates who happen to be women and women of color. And of course, our own, VPOTUS, Kamala Harris (who the white men are so afraid of, they s*it their pants and resort to juvenile insults whenever she is in the news) leading the pack.

The only thing that can defeat us is defeatism. Defeatism coupled with- (SOME-not all)- white womens’ MADDENING tendencies to vote against their own interests!! I saw a Wall Street Journal poll that said white women are leaning more toward republicans inthe final days of the campaign as “the economy” replaces abortion rights as their “main concern.” (I hope that is WRONG. And NO, I don’t have the link, I’m too sleepy to find it, so anyone who is really interested, it should be easy to google, it just came out yesterday.) ONWARD!!
