Remember, Remember, the Eighth of November [1]

Good evening, America.

One night, while Tucker Carlson was stoking fear in his viewers on Fox News that critical race theory was destroying the minds of young helpless white school children, the television screen suddenly went blank after a snowstorm of static. Then, just seconds later, the image of a man dressed in black, wearing a Guy Fawkes mask, filled the screen, replacing Carlson. V began to speak:

Good evening, America. Allow me first to apologize for this interruption. I do like many of you appreciate the violent contests of football, the banal drivel of social media, and the mindless distractions on television. I enjoy them as much as any bloke. But in the spirit of communication, whereupon we’ve ignored recent events in our country that culminated in an awful bloody struggle, I thought we could mark this occasion by reminding everyone that on November the Eighth we might end up destroying our democracy, unless first we take some time out of our daily lives and have a little chat.

There are, of course, here at Fox, those who don’t want me to speak. I suspect even now Tucker Carlson is throwing a hissy fit and Sean Hannity is shitting bricks. Why? Because while violence often appears more appealing than conversation, words of truth will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is there is something terribly wrong in this country, isn’t there? Violence and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And although at first although they only attacked immigrants and minorities, you now have domestic terrorists trying to kill duly elected members of our own government—all in the name of the egregious lie that the loser, Donald Trump, somehow won re-election.

How did this happen? Who’s to blame? Well certainly Trump and his Republican sycophants are more responsible than others—and they will be held accountable. But again, truth be told, if you are looking for the guilty, you need only to look into a mirror.

I know why you did it. You were afraid. Who wouldn’t be? They made you fear Mexicans were taking your jobs and Muslims were attacking your religion. They convinced you that black people were a threat and the only reason you were poor, was because white people were being persecuted. Fear got the best of you, and in your panic, you turned to Donald Trump, an immoral conman and TV reality show star who claimed he could make America great again. Trump conspired to corrupt you of your reason and rob you of your common sense. And all he demanded in return was your mindless, obedient consent.

Tonight, I seek to expose that liar. Tonight, I remind you he plotted to destroy our democracy and appoint himself as dictator and high chancellor for life. More than six people died during his insurrection he instigated, while he gleefully watched on TV, refusing to stop the violent madness. Tonight, I seek to remind you that fairness, justice, and freedom are more than words, they are our American perspective. So, if you’ve seen nothing of his treachery. If the crimes he committed against the American people remain unknown to you, then I suggest you allow this Eighth of November to pass without marking a ballot.

But if you see what I see, if you feel as I feel, if you would seek the truth as I do, then I ask you to stand with me and vote against the tyranny of the Republicans who continue to lie and threaten our freedoms and Democracy, and together we with give them an Eighth of November that shall never ever be forgot!
