Well, folks, we had to fight the state Republican controlled Senate for years to get early voting passed. After the 2016 election, there was enough activist groundswell to vote out the leaders of that sub-Democratic block that caucussed with the Republicans to take practical control. And then we were able to get early voting passed. Finally.

Yawn?

So, we don't have much history of early voting round these parts.

But, color me naive, or maybe panicky, and it's true, in terms of national House control and Senate control, the Fight for Democracy really does seem like the main thrust of that decision is indeed out-of-state.

But our voting habits, here, and nationally, are normally pathetic. Like we have to have comparitive tidal waves of voting to hit 60%. Like for an inspirational presidential election. Wow! 60%. USA! USA! Sure, Wisconsin participation might put us to shame. But, 60%? We're #1???

So, here we are. New York is not very key nationwide here, and we sure as all get out want to support Pat Ryan, upstate. And don't want to fall asleep on Sean Patrick Maloney. But, we DO have a Trumpy running for Governor, folks.

OK, upwsLj, with the first 5 of 9 early voting days down, we now have a whopping number of 7.09% of registered NYC voter ballots cast.

Worth mention on local news media? I dunno. We don't want to reinforce any absorbed messages or impressions of disarray or what's the use defeatism. But, in line with any Civics-oriented inclinations of commentary, unworthy of printed space or elapsed air time to observe? Ya know, just stenographically speaking?

Bravo, fellow New Yorkers. You really alllll waiting for Election Day itself, to create and stand persistently in monstrous "day of" lines? Weather report right now looking a bit dicey.

Yosef, gimme that muscular donkey arm of yours posted via comment.

C'mon, folks, please! Up and at 'em. Bring the kids as Civics 101. Everybody tell 5 neighbors. And each of them tells five more. And each of them…

Not only do we not want a Trumpy governor. But, we ARE fighting for democracy, plain and simple. Like, let's get in the habit. Of caring. And voting. C'mon! Up and at 'em!
