According to this post on Raw Story Roberts has temporarily blocked Congress from getting Trump’s tax returns.

I don’t have a lot of additional info other than my own commentary that this better be “temporary” because I don’t see any situation where the Supreme Court could rule that Congress doesn’t have oversight responsibility for the Executive branch.

Of course, this is the Supreme Court in 2022 so I know, ANYTHING is possible. But I still find it highly unlikely that they would wade into this issue and rule in favor for Trump…. on the other hand, I didn’t think they would wade into this at all so what do I know.

My other thought here is what’s the motivation on Robert’s part? Does he want to show the Court’s “unbiased opinion” that they were willing to take up Trump’s case only to squash it so it can go down as standing case law? That’s my optimistic take.

It’s also amazing to me just how clueless and out of touch some people can get when they spend too much time in their own bubbles. I mean, I don’t think Roberts really understands just how little faith the American people have in the Supreme Court. With his cluelessness in mind, it makes me wonder, IF his goal is to put a stamp on the right for Congressional oversight does his interference actually backfire on him and lower the Court’s standing with Americans even further?

Either way, for now I don’t think this is extremely negative or positive news, it’s just news that could turn out to be very positive or very negative in the very near future so we should keep an eye on developments.
