Some nostalgia:

UFO type stuff is popular at Halloween, too. When I saw this rare, past-vision-of-the-future tiny home, I was so charmed I thought I would include it.

Geoff Castellucci’s low bass singing amazes me. And he has some good selections for the season. Who can forget this goofy classic?

Some people can make great costumes for themselves. My sister can do stuff like this. But not me… But it’s fun to see how someone can just whip up a small masterpiece.

Hmmmm, maybe one needs a perfume to go with that costume.

What the Scent of a Witch Revealed About the Ancient World:

MOST PERFUME ADS SUGGEST THAT the right scent can make you sexy, alluring and successful. A blend by Black Phoenix Alchemy Labs, meanwhile, offers to make you smell like Hecate, the three-faced Greek goddess of witchcraft.

[snip]

These days, however, smelling like a witch has its attractions. Misogynistic stereotypes of seductive enchantresses and evil crones have been reclaimed as feminist symbols, and the modern proliferation of perfume blends named for witches, spells and potions suggests that many people find their associations empowering. Modern perfumes evoking magical imagery are often presented with a feminist twist, reclaiming ancient stereotypes. Another scent from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, “Medea,” describes her as “the embodiment of ruthless power, indomitable will, and furious vengeance.” Aether Arts Perfume’s “Circe” is based on Madeline Miller’s novel about the great witch of “The Odyssey” and describes her as “a woman of power and strength.” Harry Potter fans can find all sorts of Hermione-themed scented candles online.

And hey, baking ain’t just for Christmas or Thanksgiving:

Maybe make some Caramel Apples. Or would Popcorn Balls be better?

Or make a mess in the kitchen by carving pumpkins.

x So cute. Taking the pumpkin carving to a new level. Love the wheels pic.twitter.com/Du6JJZ3O8g — helen warlow (@HWarlow) October 27, 2022

No candy at our door this year…the pandemic still has us spooked. So we’ll play a board game. (Yes, we are nerds.)

And maybe watch some You Tubes or movies. You?

The weekend begins now. Come in, be comfortable, and share your day, your weekend plans, your menus! What, if anything, are you doing to celebrate Halloween? This is an open thread.
